Memorandum of Understanding signed at the 10th edition of the Narrative Summit by Eng. Mohamed Fouad, Ms. Lamia Kamel and Ms. Hania Moussa, with the participation and endorsement of Eng. Tawfik Diab, Vice President of the Egyptian Gas & Energy Association.

Egypt Oil & Gas (EOG), the communications partner of Egypt’s energy industry, and Narrative Summit, Egypt’s leading platform for communications and nation branding, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 13 October 2026 in Somabay, Hurghada, to launch the Energy Efficiency Narrative, a multi-year partnership designed to make energy efficiency a visible, positive, and measurable part of Egypt’s national narrative.

The MoU was signed during the 10th edition of the Narrative Summit by Eng. Mohamed Fouad, Chairman & Founder of Egypt Oil & Gas; Ms. Lamia Kamel, Founder and Managing Director, CC Plus; and Ms. Hania Moussa, Co-Founder & Managing Partner, The Global Narrative, the Summit’s organizing companies, with the participation and attendance of Eng. Tawfik Diab, Vice President of the Egyptian Gas & Energy Association (EGEA), reflecting the endorsement of the gas and energy industry’s representative body.

The signing took place before the distinguished audience convened at the Summit’s milestone 10th edition, held under the theme “Beyond Reset”, which brought together leading figures of Egypt’s business community and businessmen’s associations alongside prominent public figures, among them Sir Mohamed Mansour, Chairman of Mansour Group and Chairman of the Summit’s Board; Amre Moussa, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and former Secretary-General of the League of Arab States; Boris Tadić, former President of Serbia; H.E. Robert Silverman, Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo; Hatem Dowidar, former Group CEO of e&; and the celebrated actress Yousra, together with senior officials, investors, international media figures and creative leaders from Egypt and around the world.

The initiative is built on a simple premise: the most affordable energy Egypt will ever produce is the energy it does not consume. While national programs on efficiency exist, the partners believe what has been missing is a private-sector-led narrative that presents efficiency as smart, modern and competitive, rather than as sacrifice.
Uniquely, the Energy Efficiency Narrative is designed as a cross-industry effort rather than an energy-sector program. Each of the industries convened by the Summit, tourism and hospitality, investment and finance, industry, consumer brands, sports, culture, communications, and media, will carry its own part of the story, with the Summit serving as the annual stage and EOG’s platforms sustaining it year-round.

Following the signing, the partners will establish an Energy Efficiency Committee to carry responsibility for the initiative, set its annual priorities and report progress publicly at each edition. The partners will also pursue the patronage of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, ensuring the initiative complements and amplifies national energy efficiency programs.

What the partnership will develop:
• Corporate efficiency commitments — companies across sectors publicly committing to measurable efficiency improvements, with progress reported annually.

• A national creative challenge — Egypt’s leading communications agencies competing each year to design the nation’s energy efficiency campaign.
• An annual award — recognizing the best public communication of energy efficiency by companies, agencies and public bodies.
• Ambassadors and partnerships — voices from sports and culture carrying the message to audiences far beyond the energy sector.

• An annual published report — tracking commitments, perception and progress, released at each edition of the Summit.
Statements
Eng. Mohamed Fouad, Chairman & Founder, Egypt Oil & Gas: “Egypt’s energy sector is the country’s most important industry, yet it has never been good enough at telling its own story.

Efficiency is the story that matters most. Every unit of energy we save at home strengthens Egypt’s economy and its standing as a regional energy hub. This partnership puts that story where it belongs: in every industry, and in every home.”

Ms. Lamia Kamel, Founder, CC Plus: “Narrative has always been about how Egypt tells its story to the world. With the Energy Efficiency Narrative, we are turning that craft toward a national priority. Efficiency is not an engineering topic. It is a story about who we are: a country that is smart, modern and competitive. Every industry on our stage has a role in telling it.”

Ms. Hania Moussa, Founder & Managing Partner, The Global Narrative: “Ten editions of Narrative have shown what happens when Egypt’s best storytellers take on a national cause. The Energy Efficiency Narrative gives them the most consequential brief yet, and we intend to deliver it far beyond this stage, across the region and the world.”

Eng. Tawfik Diab, Vice President, Egyptian Gas & Energy Association (EGEA): “The gas and energy industry stands firmly behind this initiative. For decades we have invested in finding and producing Egypt’s energy; it is time we invested with the same seriousness in how the nation values it. Efficiency is the industry’s own cause. Every unit saved makes Egyptian energy go further, for our industries, our exports and our people, and EGEA will work to bring the sector’s companies to the table with commitments that can be measured.”
The partners will announce the initiative’s first programs and participating organizations in the coming period, working in alignment with the relevant ministries and national institutions.
