Stellantis, one of the world’s leading automotive manufacturers, has announced the start of local production for the Citroën C4X in Egypt for the first time. This milestone is taking place at the Arab American Vehicles (AAV) factory, affiliated with the Arab Organization for Industrialization, marking a strategic step that reflects the company’s commitment to supporting local industry and strengthening its presence in Egypt’s promising market.
This achievement reflects Stellantis’ vision to localize technology and drive local manufacturing forward, in line with government efforts to encourage local investment and achieve sustainable industrial development.
The Citroën C4X is a standout model that combines the elegance of a sedan with the spirit of an SUV, making it an ideal choice for Egyptian consumers seeking performance, comfort, and affordability all in one. The new vehicle is expected to be available in the Egyptian market later this month. The factory’s production capacity is expected to reach 6,000 units annually of the C4X model, with the potential to increase to 12,000 cars per year.
Manufacturing Citroën vehicles in Egypt is a strategic move that directly supports Stellantis Middle East and Africa’s Long-term Vision. By leveraging Egypt’s strategic location and skilled workforce, Stellantis enhances its ability to deliver tailored, high-quality vehicles to the Middle East and Africa region. This reinforces the company’s commitment to industrial growth in Egypt and aligns with Stellantis’ target to introduce 25 new models in the region by 2030 — a goal that will drive growth and sustainability in key markets, strengthen the company’s regional position, and help increase its market share both in Egypt and across the region.
Samir Cherfan, Chief Operating Officer for the Middle East and Africa at Stellantis, added : “we are launching our second locally manufactured vehicle in Egypt. As we promised during the launch of Jeep Grand Cherokee production in Egypt at the end of last year, we are now launching the Citroën C4X. The region is witnessing high dynamism, and we have ambitious plans — we aim to become the number one player in the regional market by selling one million vehicles by 2030, 35% of which will be electric. We also aim to achieve over 90% independent regional production, meaning ‘produced in the region for the region,’ which will make us the most localized player in the area.
Hisham Hosni, General Manager of Stellantis Egypt, said: “The launch of Citroën C4X production in Egypt is a defining moment for the company. We are proud of our long-standing partnership with the Arab Organization for Industrialization and the AAV factory. We remain committed to delivering world-class vehicles built by Egyptian hands, contributing to job creation and the development of local talent.”
Hosni added: “We are confident that this step will enhance Stellantis’ competitiveness in the Egyptian market and pave the way for further local manufacturing initiatives in the future.”
The production of the C4X is focused on the highest standards of quality and advanced technology in manufacturing lines, which have been specially developed to meet both local and international market requirements.
This project falls within Stellantis’ global strategy to strengthen regional production and provide smart, sustainable mobility solutions that align with consumer aspirations and future challenges.
It is worth noting that Stellantis began manufacturing the Jeep Grand Cherokee L in Egypt at the end of last year, making the Citroën C4X the second vehicle the company has announce for local production.
