In a strategic step aimed at developing the medical education system and professional training in the Arab world, the Arab Board of Health Specializations recently announced the signing of a cooperation agreement with the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, aiming to make global scientific and medical content available to trainees and physicians affiliated with the Board across all Arab countries.

The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Omar bin Awadh Al-Ruwas, Secretary General of the Board; Dr. Gina El-Feky, General Supervisor of the Bank and President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology; and Dr. Essam El-Toukhy, Director of the Training Department at the Board, in addition to representatives of the global platforms and the Board’s officials in Egypt.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in his capacity as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, and Dr. Adel El-Adawy, Head of the Executive Office of the Arab Board of Health Specializations.

Under this agreement, trainees registered in the Arab Board of Health Specializations will be provided with annual subscriptions to three of the largest global medical and educational platforms offered by the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, namely:
• Elsevier Clinical Key Student
• Osmosis
• Incision Academy

This step comes as a continuation of the efforts of the “Arab Board” since its establishment in 1978 to improve health services by raising the scientific and practical level of healthcare providers. Through this partnership, trainees in all Arab countries will be able to access the latest scientific references, specialized lectures, and interactive platforms that contribute to raising the efficiency of Arab Board graduates.

A working team was formed to negotiate with the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, headed by Mohamed El-Hady El-Sweihly, Vice Chairman of the Executive Office; Dr. Jawad Al-Sharif, Assistant Secretary General of the Arab Board; Dr. Essam El-Toukhy, Director of the Training Department at the Arab Board; and Major General Dr. Ahmed El-Taoudy, Director of the Arab Board Office in Cairo. Together with Dr. Gina El-Feky, General Supervisor of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank and President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, an agreement was reached to choose the Egyptian Knowledge Bank to benefit from its platform, which was launched by the Egyptian government in 2016 to serve as a window for researchers, specialists, and students to access the latest scientific and research sources from the world’s largest publishing houses. She noted that providing these advanced educational tools to Arab doctors contributes to building medical cadres qualified to global standards.

For his part, Dr. Adel El-Adawy affirmed that this cooperation embodies Egypt’s pivotal role in the Arab region, explaining that making these prestigious platforms available to the Board’s trainees will work to unify standards of medical knowledge and develop physicians’ clinical skills, which will positively reflect on the quality of health services provided to the Arab citizen.

He pointed out that the Arab Board of Health Specializations was established by a decision of the Council of Arab Ministers of Health in 1978, and aims to raise the level of professional performance in various health specialties in the Arab world through specialized training programs and the granting of specialty certificates (the Arab Board).
