Orthodox Christmas: Putin orders a ceasefire on January 6 and 7

Russian President Vladimir Putin yesterday Thursday (January 5th) ordered his forces to implement a ceasefire in Ukraine on January 6th and 7th on the occasion of Orthodox Christmas, after a request to that effect from the Patriarch Kirill, the Kremlin said.
According to Vladimir Putin’s order, this ceasefire must begin this Friday, January 6 at 12:00 p.m. (10:00 a.m. Paris time) and end at 12:00 a.m. tomorrow (10:00 p.m. Paris time).
“In view of the appeal of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, I instruct the Russian Minister of Defense to introduce a ceasefire regime along the entire line of contact between the parties in Ukraine from 12:00 p.m. on January 6 this year until 12:00 p.m. on January 7,” he said in the Kremlin statement.
